ReplyDeleteIt's funny you say that, as I was familiar with the Wilde letter before I knew the prayer. Have you read The Unmasking of Oscar Wilde by Joseph Pearce? If not, I recommend it.

DeleteI first encountered the De Profundis in a translation of Georg Trakl's poem. Then backtracked to the Psalm. Then as I saw more and more of them, realized it's a whole genre of poem.
